Le Mange Lumiére

The story of Maere: When Lights Die.

I'm officially on YouTube thanks to indie horror game, Maere. The game was created by four young developers from France. Full of dimly lit corridors the atmosphere is not only terrifying but soul destroying, with every corridor nearly identical to the next, finding yourself panicked and lost is a common occurrence.

Seeing as I fear, fear itself and stay away from anything horror related as much as possible in my day-to-day life, putting myself into this virtual reality filled with nightmareish qualities was a bit of a personal accomplishment.

You can check out the video of me experiencing Maere on my boyfriends channel - LandsiLive - as well as his play throughs for other games.

After playing this game I did a bit of research about its meaning and the voices inside it; and discovered a bit of poetry that completely relates to the game. I find it deep and haunting, but still beautiful, written by Robert E he admits in his comments that it is based around the game; and I've found that it has made me appreciate the game even more.

Out with the new, in with the old.

I was lucky enough to stumble across a Charity sale in an old warehouse building today and pick up two beautiful items for just 50 pence each! I'd been hunting for a tartan scarf for over a month and I knew when I saw this place I was in with a good chance. After briefly mooching through old Xbox and PS1 games with my other half, I finally found myself in the room with all the rails. Rails crammed with old blazers, patterned dresses and 90's classics lined the walls. I followed the paper signs to the size 8 section, after slipping a Scottish Kilt over my leggings and instantly being told I looked ridiculous I gave up on clothes and dove into the accessories.

I was scavenging for a 'new' purse when I found the weighty gold compact. It was perfectly intact and just what I needed for my - actually - new velvet handbag. I smiled to my boyfriend and headed to the scarfs that had been tossed by the window. Originally, my heart had been set on a traditional red tartan, but with none in sight I tried on the royal blue checks. It went with my eyes, I just had to have it! It became my new love immediately.

Nothing quite brightens up a miserable saturday morning food shop, like a vintage bargain.
